What's Playing?

Growing up in the 50’s in Los Angeles, I was presented with an amazing variety of music. I grew up in a musical family household. My father was a songwriter and played a variety of wind instruments with the trombone as his main love and my mother played the violin. My father was a sideman in a number of musicals and he also taught music. I look back at him as the one who started me on my long love affair with music with all its glory and power. As I grew up, everywhere I went there was music in the air and my radio was an attachment to my ear with all of the great DJs of the era which included, but not limited to, Hunter Hancock, Johnny Otis, Huggy Boy, Art Laboe, and many others. Live music was found from the 54 Ballroom to the El Monte Legion Stadium with many stops in between R&B, Blues, Rock, Latin, Country, and a little Classical and Jazz which later in life became consuming passions for me.
