What is the best download site for Classical/Opera?

Posted by admin on July 29, 2010 under Music

I’m looking for a site other than Itunes, even though Itunes for classical/opera is great. How do other sites compare?

Thanks

  1. the new Met on demand service is said to be great. I have not tried it,

  2. Yeah, Amazon mp3…

As for emp3finder, davoud_zzz must think we’re all idiots. That site is nothing but a bunch of misspelled and "comming soon" [sic] links that lead to files that don’t exist – a spam site built specifically to generate ad views and clicks.

You make a profit by lying to people and wasting their time. I hope it’s worth it.

  3. Try:

I’ve bought loads of VHSs and DVDs from them, great sound! One can also download various operas from their site. Check it out!

  4. You Tube is no good if you’re wanting to download complete operas; but if you’re just interested in single selections, it’s great:

The "Immolation Scene" from Wagner’s "Die Gottedammerung":

    Finale of Tchaikowsky’s "4th Symphony":

    "Nessun dorma" from Puccini’s "Turondot":

"Daybreak" from Ravel’s "Daphnis and Chloe":

    "Finale scene" from Bizet’s "Carmen":

The "Bacchanale" from Saint-Saen’s "Samson and Delilah":

    Alberich

  5. I like Amazon mp3! Here’s a good article that explains why…

    try emp3finder.com

This is not a download site, but a great classical music online radio: http://www.classicfm.co.uk .

  8. rapidshare.com is the host site many air-checks of opera performances are kept available for free downloading… though you have to know the url to the specific recordings (and I’m not giving out urls like that on the open internet, since I’d like to keep those urls from getting shut down).
